Book Review - The Stolen Twin - Michelle Pariza Wacek

There are few books that draw me in like this one did.

From the very beginning we learn that Kit had a twin sister that was kidnapped by fairies, or so she dreams.

She also has an ex-boyfriend, Tommy, who is clearly still crazy about her.

There's a few reasons why Kit doesn't do serious relationships, even though the reader can tell she wishes otherwise with Tommy.  Our main character has issues stemming from her missing sister and a genetic disorder - Cystic Fibrosis.  She doesn't want Tommy to end up resenting her as her disease progresses.

So she flirts with David Terry, eventually agreeing to go on a date with him even though a mysterious stranger warned her against him.  Even though she initially had a bad feeling about him.

On their date, she inexplicably revealed details about her life that she hadn't even shared with her roommates or Tommy.  Despite their connection, Kit feels uncomfortable when David comes on too strong.

For him, "leave me alone", "go away", and "I don't want to date you" don't mean the same thing as it does to Kit.  He begins a dangerous and life-threatening game of stalker.

Wait? No witty commentary?  Nope.

Okay,  fine.  I don't get why Kit tells David about her missing twin, Cat (Kitrina and Catalina, fyi) or her CF when she doesn't even tell her friends.  Maybe because he recognized her meds that she had to take before eating.  I seriously think David did a lot of planning before even getting her friend, Elena to introduce them.

Plenty of secrets are revealed.  Some that weren't even necessary except to add to the subplot.  Us writers like our subplots. But the entire book was handled wonderfully.  Pick it up, read it, enjoy it  unless New Adult topics and detailed descriptions concerning CF scenes bother you.  I'd say Senior year (18 yrs old) and up unless there's a mature Junior reader (17) interested.

I did go and buy the author's other offering, but I didn't enjoy that contemporary adult psychological thriller read (Mirror Image) as much as The Stolen Twin.
